Editorial Policy

How we decide what belongs on the site, how calculator guidance is written, and how corrections are handled.

The site is built around practical home-decor planning. A page should help a visitor measure, calculate, compare, verify, or complete a real project step. We avoid publishing placeholder pages, copied articles, or pages created only to increase the number of indexed URLs.

What we publish

Calculator pages explain the inputs, calculation method, worked example, practical limitations, and related project checks. Category pages connect related tools with measurement notes, common mistakes, and a longer project walkthrough. Project guides combine several calculations into one end-to-end planning process.

A new page should add a distinct use case or explanation. If two pages would answer the same question with the same method and no meaningful difference for the visitor, the preferred approach is to improve or consolidate the existing page rather than create another near-duplicate URL.

How assumptions are presented

Defaults and worked examples are illustrative inputs. They are not presented as universal recommendations. Where a result depends on product coverage, pack size, price, waste allowance, fixture output, fabric width, or another variable that can change between products, the page tells the visitor to verify the exact specification being used.

The methodology page explains the general calculation and review approach. Individual tool pages show the method that applies to that tool so a visitor can understand what the result represents before using it for a purchase decision.

Updates and corrections

Calculator logic, guidance, FAQs, category notes, and project guides can be corrected when an error or unclear assumption is found. A useful correction should make the method easier to reproduce rather than simply changing a result without explanation.

Visitors can report a suspected calculation issue through the contact page. The most useful report includes the tool name, values entered, units, result received, and expected result so the calculation can be reproduced.

Sources and product information

Most calculators use visitor-supplied measurements and product specifications rather than a hidden catalogue. Product coverage, dimensions, available pack sizes, installation requirements, prices, and local rules should be checked against the manufacturer, supplier, installer, or other appropriate source for the exact project.

When a page describes a general calculation rule, it is written to make the rule and its limitations visible. The site does not treat a generic planning estimate as a substitute for manufacturer instructions, a site inspection, or regulated professional advice.

Advertising and calculator results

Advertising code, when enabled, is separate from the calculator formulas and project guidance. Calculator results are produced from the submitted inputs and the published rule for that tool; an advertisement does not change the numerical result.

External advertisements or links should not be interpreted as verification of a product, installer, price, or claim. Visitors should evaluate products and services using the same supplier and project checks described throughout the site.
